Stagecoach Raise Money for Kingdom Kids at Fife Open Day

Stagecoach hosted an open day at their bus depot on St Leonards Street in Dunfermline on 19 May, in aid of Fife charity Kingdom Kids. The depot open day marked 100 years of the depot site, initially a functioning tram depot, then bus depot and currently home to over 90 vehicles.

To celebrate the milestone, Stagecoach opened the garage doors for a running day, packed full of heritage fleet displays and family activities on Saturday 19 May.

The event was supported by Kingdom FM, with breakfast presenters Dave and Vanessa in attendance throughout the day to provide fantastic tunes, games and entertainment for those attending.

Stagecoach also produced a number of memorabilia and bus related goodies which were available to buy on the day, or for a donation. The proceeds of the event totalled £829.79, with all cash raised on the day being donated to Kingdom Kids.

We're so proud to have raised £829.79 for Kingdom Kids. It's all down to the generosity of our staff and customers who really got involved in the event, on a beautiful day and for such a great cause."

Kingdom Kids is Kingdom FM's Children's charity which exists to raise and distribute funds to groups supporting underprivileged and disadvantaged youngsters throughout Fife and assists groups who actively support the positive development of kids in our area.

Kingdom FM's Managing Director, Blair Crofts said: "It was an absolute honour to team up with Stagecoach at their open day on 19th May to celebrate the centenary of their depot site in Dunfermline. Our sincere thanks goes to everyone involved in the fundraising activities on the day".

The open day event also included a wide range of transport stalls, a fascinating engineering display, vintage vehicles, emergency service initiatives and loads to keep the kids entertained, including a trip through the bus wash, bouncy castle, balloon modeller and the chance to have your name on a bus destination screen.

Stagecoach also presented its latest fleet investment of £2.7 million with one of the company’s new Plaxton Panther B8 LE coaches on display at the event. The coaches offer improved wheelchair access yet retain the luxurious features typical of the Express City Connect network.
