Covid-19 business support grants extended to more firms as closing date for applications is announced

The Small Business Grant Fund has been extended to help more companies in need, with businesses that share properties but do not pay business rates now able to apply. The extension will apply to firms occupying shared office spaces, business incubators or shared industrial units and who lease the space from a registered, rate-paying landlord. Eligible businesses can apply to their local authority for a grant of up to £10,000.

This is the latest in a line of grants made available by the Scottish Government to assist businesses cope with the economic impact of Covid-19 and lockdown. The various schemes have paid out nearly £825m so far, with over 72000 businesses receiving some financial support. Fife has had the 4th highest number of awards in the country, with over £46 million paid out.

The Scottish Government has announced that these schemes will close to new applications on 10 July, so businesses who have yet to apply are urged to do so quickly.
