CEO Update October 2024
Economic Growth in Fife
The new Labour Government has placed economic growth at the heart of their plans for the next five years, so how can the Government help businesses? According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) annual survey, the key is ‘raising business investment’.
Low business investment in the UK has hindered productivity growth. While the regulatory framework is generally supportive, economic uncertainty and a complex planning system have created barriers. To encourage investment, a transparent long-term strategy, a streamlined planning process, and a more balanced corporate tax system are needed.
As business owners, you may have experienced these challenges firsthand. Please share your experiences with the Chamber so we can advocate for policies that support Fife's businesses.
Looking ahead to 2025, we're excited to be planning a calendar of events that continues to support businesses with learning and training opportunities, and the continuation of a range of networking events.
Upcoming Events:
International Trade - Import Processes and Documentation, 5th November.
Christmas Fife Social - date and venue to be confirmed soon.
Best regards,
Stephen Percy-Robb
