Construction Academy equips job seekers for opportunities at Fife College's new Dunfermline Campus
A number of Fifers currently looking for work have attended a Construction Academy at Fife College. The College’s new campus in Halbeath will be ready in 2025 with The Construction Academy designed to give attendees new skills and a path to employment; either building the new campus or taking up wider opportunities in Fife. Attendees gained qualifications around health and safety and manual handling, which are essential entry requirements into the construction industry. Balfour Beatty are building the new campus as part of the Dunfermline Learning Centre, and are working closely with Fife College to identify employment opportunities on-site throughout the build. Fife College Principal Jim Metcalfe said: “Anyone looking for work or further learning has a home here at the college. We help our students go from learning to earning, providing opportunities from enrolment to graduation. "Talking to everyone at the Construction Academy, who’ll potentially be building our new campus, was incredibly exciting. "Hearing their stories and meeting them at the start of their learning and employment journey confirmed the value of Fife College to the local community and economy.” |
