7th October 2025

The airport was recognised with awards from the National Transport Awards and AirportsUK.

Edinburgh Airport has been named Airport of the Year at the National Transport Awards 2025, recognising its route development, investment in sustainable energy, and passenger care.

The awards, held last night (2 October) in London, celebrate excellence across the UK transport sector.

The National Transport Awards have 17 award categories open to all types of transport operators, from buses to airports and ferry companies.

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to bring this award back to Edinburgh. It’s recognition not just of growth but shows how we can grow responsibly – connecting Scotland to the world whilst investing in cleaner energy, passenger services, and the communities around us.

“We’re thrilled to represent Edinburgh on the national stage and to keep building an airport we can be proud of.”

Grant Poulton, Managing Director at Transport Times, said:

“Edinburgh Airport stood out for combining record-breaking growth with outstanding passenger experience and a genuine commitment to sustainability. The judges were impressed by its ability to expand global connectivity while maintaining efficiency and investing in a greener future for Scottish aviation.”

Edinburgh Airport was also Highly Commended in the Large Airport category at the annual AirportsUK Health and Safety Awards and praised for its first-ever internal Safety Month.

Adele Gammarano, Head of Regulation and Compliance at AirportsUK, said:

"They had events on the apron and all external contractors were involved in the running of the day.

“This showed true collaboration between everyone involved. Their safety share scheme will help fuel the ongoing safety of the airport.”
