Employer Supported Volunteering
The Scottish Fisheries Museum is launching a new Employer Supported Volunteering scheme and would like to hear from any members who may be interested in taking part or finding out more about it.
The scheme will offer employers in Fife the opportunity to engage members of their workforce in a one-off volunteering session at the museum. Participants will have the chance to swap their usual place of work for Anstruther harbour and spend a morning on and around the museum’s flagship REAPER FR958, helping to ensure that the museum’s historic fleet can keep sailing.
This is an excellent opportunity for team building in a unique and picturesque setting.
Meeting new people and getting fresh air and exercise, while making a positive difference in the community can boost employee wellbeing. Employers will also have the chance to forge strong links with the Scottish Fisheries Museum, a charitable trust with a nationally significant collection and an international reputation.
The museum can offer a range of one-off group tasks that can be undertaken by volunteers at various points throughout the year, and we are happy to work with employers to tailor these accordingly. We are currently offering the opportunity for a team of up to 5 volunteers to help members of the museum’s Boats Club tidy, remove and store equipment from REAPER at the end of the 2025 sailing season. This will take place over one morning in mid-late September 2025. No previous experience will be necessary, and full training will be given.
