Fife Chamber CEO Update February 2024

14th February 2024

Welcome Members to our latest monthly update. Here we will bring you the latest feedback on recent events including the Forth Green Freeport and upcoming news and events which you may be interested in hearing about.

Tax Planning

With the financial year coming up fast, I wanted to highlight the latest article from Thomson Cooper titled ‘Year–End Tax Planning Guide’. This will give you all the key points of interest when planning for the Year-End including maximising all your allowances and your money with a useful checklist in advance of the 5th April 2024.

Eco-Wellness and Leisure Park at the site of the former St Ninians

If you missed the first public consultation on the 8th of February then there is another chance to visit and discuss with the stakeholders on the 7th of March at the Kelty Community Centre respectively, between 3.30pm and 7.30pm. I would encourage going to visit what will be a very exciting development for the entire region of Fife.

Forth Green Freeport

I was delighted to be able to host a very engaging ‘Forth Green Freeport’ event at the Double Tree Hilton, North Queensferry. The sun was shining and as we overlooked the Forth Estuary we were delighted to bring you the latest of what is planned to be a 25-year project bringing significant investment and job opportunities to the Forth including Rosyth and Burntisland. We were joined by Erin Law from Forth Ports, Pammy Stevenson from Fife Council and Jim Metcalfe from Fife College.

Events during the Month

We will be hosting our Charity partners at Fife Gingerbread for our Annual Charity donation event on the 29th of February 2024.

We are very excited as all focus is now on working through our Fife Business Awards nominations and applications for this year’s event. We will be working closely with our sponsorship partners and our independent judging Chair and co-sponsors prior to advising who are finalists are.
