Fife training centre first in Scotland to hold Institute of Export accreditation
A Fife Chamber of Commerce member has become the first training provider in Scotland to offer accredited training from the Institute of Export (IOE). St Andrews Management Centre (STAMC) today announce success in their bid to become accredited with the Institute of Export. This accreditation will enable the centre to deliver the IOE’s internationally recognised export qualifications and STAMC will lead with the Certificate in International Trade.
The Certificate in International Trade (NVQ Level 3) is aimed at businesses and individuals who are new to international trade. The course is comprised of four units which cover Fundamentals of International Business, Introduction to International Trade Management, Global Marketplace and International Transportation and Documentation.
The Institute of Export was established in 1935 and is the U.K’s only professional membership body supporting the interests of everyone involved in importing, exporting and international trade.
Speaking on the centre’s recent accreditation Director Jeff Lockhart said “As the world becomes a smaller place even small Scottish firms are looking beyond our own horizons for new customers. International Trade can be very rewarding but there can be expensive pitfalls for the unprepared business. This qualification is specifically aimed at those who are just getting started in global trading and will provide learners with the know-how and confidence they need to make their mark on the international marketplace. We feel that for us this is the natural extension to our own short-courses in import and export.”
Fife Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive, Eric Byiers, commented on the news saying: “The need to build on our export capacity and performance is widely recognised as an essential part of a balanced approach to growing our economy. Having St Andrews Management Centre as an Accredited Centre on our doorstep is a great asset for Fife businesses – as well as being a great achievement by the team at STAMC.”
This is STAMC’s third accreditation in 18 months with the centre having already gained Approved Centre status with both the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) and the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
