Free export advice for Fife businesses

18th August 2016

Fife firms can access free export advice and learn how to effectively research international markets when the ‘Exporting is GREAT Tour’ makes a stop at the University of St Andrews Gateway Building, North Haugh, St Andrews, on 8 September, 11.30 – 14.00.

Fife Council’s Economic Development Team has been working with Scottish Enterprise to bring the Export Hub to Fife. The Export Hub will help businesses discover which international markets to target, and where the best opportunities are. Advice is available on all aspects of doing business overseas, including:

  • How to get connected to market research, insights and opportunities
  • How to innovate your business and start selling internationally
  • How to use international ecommerce to maximise your digital reach
  • International banking, freight and logistics and more

Fife business speakers will provide an outline of their exporting journey on the day, and there are opportunities to meet one-to-one with qualified experts.

Cllr Lesley Laird, Depute Leader and Spokesperson for Planning and Economy, said: “This Export Hub offers Fife businesses the chance to meet up and get expert advice on how to sell overseas, and which markets offer the greatest potential. With great advice on hand you might just find it’s easier than you think. I encourage anyone who’s interested in finding out more to come along and hear from experienced exporters and also about how to get one-to-one business support.

“This is just one of the ways we are working to make Fife the best place to do business by boosting Fife’s economy through building business exporting capability and helping firms to access and make the most of global opportunities.”

Pamela Stevenson, Lead Officer Economic Development, Fife Council, said:“There are many opportunities for Fife products, services and expertise across the UK and worldwide. If you are ambitious to grow and need help to expand your business into new markets, wish to increase your digital reach, or get access to market research or insights, come along and attend the free seminar and engage with the Export Hub experts.”

Scotland already exports £27.5 billion worth of goods and services all over the world and there is scope to increase this. The Export Hub is led by the UK Government Department for International Trade backed by Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the Scottish Council for Development and Industry.
