Further recognition for Fife Chamber member

7th May 2025

The shortlist for this year’s Volunteering and Voluntary Sector Awards have been announced. Organised by Fife Voluntary Action (FVA), the awards shine a light on success stories and the brilliant people and organisations that provide vital services to their local communities.

Kirkcaldy Community Radio (SCIO) has been nominated in two categories, firstly the Socially Enterprising category, with the station demonstrating growth leading to a more sustainable and healthy community presence.

More fittingly, Wilf Parkinson, the former chair, trustee and long-serving presenter, who sadly passed away in December 2024, has been nominated for the ‘Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering’ award.

Jayne Smith, Chair of K107FM said:

“ Wilf’s dedication, warmth, and tireless commitment to K107fm and the wider community left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire us all. This recognition is a fitting tribute to a truly remarkable individual whose contribution to volunteering was nothing short of extraordinary."

FVA received 270 nominations from across the voluntary sector, making it a tough job for the panel of judges to select only three shortlisted nominees and a winner for each category. The awards are taking place on the evening of Tuesday 03 June 2025 at The Bay Hotel, Kinghorn. It’s a special night, giving volunteers the opportunity to chat and celebrate success.

Kenny Murphy, Chief Executive of FVA said: “The awards are the highlight of our year where we get to showcase the incredible difference that volunteers and voluntary sector organisations make to the lives of local people and communities in every part of Fife. Volunteers are at the heart of the third sector, helping to provide public services in a time of high demand and budgetary pressures.”
