Major Investment Helps Recycle Fife Increase Waste Recovery to 98%

Recycle Fife, part of the Purvis Group of companies, has reached a significant environmental milestone in June 2026, successfully diverting 98% of all waste received from landfill, a substantial increase from 78% just 12 months ago.

The achievement follows a programme of investment in the company's waste processing facilities, including the installation of a new waste shredder and upgrades to its picking line and trommel system.

These improvements have dramatically enhanced the company's ability to recover recyclable materials from mixed waste streams, while also increasing operational efficiency and overall processing capacity.

As one of Fife's leading waste management companies Recycle Fife, based in Lochgelly, now handles between 80 and 100 skip movements every day, serving commercial, industrial and domestic customers across a wide geographical area.

The company collects and processes waste from throughout Fife, Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee and Stirling, helping businesses and households reduce their environmental impact while ensuring materials are recovered and reused wherever possible.

The new equipment has enabled Recycle Fife to achieve higher material recovery rates across all waste streams, significantly reducing the volume of waste requiring landfill disposal. The investment has also increased the amount of waste the company can process, allowing it to meet growing customer demand across the region.
