Our Governments Must Act Now
Fife Chamber has joined the chorus of calls for urgent help for companies to cope with the cost-of-doing-business crisis.
Alan Mitchell, Chief Executive of Fife Chamber of Commerce, said: “While many businesses fear the worst as energy bills, raw materials and wage costs soar, the silence from our governments on how they will provide direct and meaningful support has been unacceptably deafening. The country’s biggest business organisations, the British Chambers of Commerce and Scottish Chambers of Commerce have given policy makers very clear guidance on the help that is needed, including direct financial support of the type that was given to alleviate the impact of Covid if required.
Fife Chamber has contacted the Scottish Government to tell them we would welcome visits in the region to meet members and we are delighted to confirm that the Deputy Governor of the Bank of England will be attending our Navigating the Economic Crisis event, as the key note speaker. This event will provide our members with the unique opportunity to hear from, question and impact the senior decision makers.
“But it is quite simple: there is an immediate business crisis to be addressed and the means to address it are at hand: they just need to act. That is the clear message from every business to any government decision maker who is listening.“

We'd like to reassure our members and inform them that Fife Chamber is currently in the process of developing a central hub, with various resources that will aim to help businesses cope with the current cost-of-doing-business crisis.
