Share Fair to Illuminate Business Opportunities for the Oil and Gas Industry Supply Chain

6th October 2016

Oil & Gas UK’s Share Fair is a key business development event on the sector’s calendar and on November 2 in Aberdeen’s Exhibition and Conference Centre the industry’s trade association will be using some new techniques to illuminate the business opportunities available to the oil and gas industry supply chain.

As the sector continues to suffer the impact of the current downturn, Oil & Gas UK is ensuring our world-leading oilfield services sector remains anchored in the UK supporting jobs, technology development and exports. These are the companies, spread throughout Britain, whose capabilities contribute to maximising economic recovery from the UK Continental Shelf.

Oil & Gas UK’s Efficiency Task Force (ETF) will be introducing its Toolkit, including the Rapid Efficiency Exchange, to help drive pan- industry efficiency improvements to improve competitiveness of the sector. Popular attractions at the event will include delegate exhibitions, and opportunities to participate in one-to-one business discussions with major purchasers and hear their presentations of forward work plans.

Share Fair’s aim is to promote the development of a demand-led supply chain by encouraging dialogue between supplier and purchaser companies so innovation in the supply chain is more acutely aligned with the needs of operators.

Participants will hear more about the ETF’s Behaviours Charter and how it is helping define and drive the cultural change needed to secure a sustainable future for the industry. Companies already signed up have committed to being early adopters of efficiency initiatives and new technology.

More importantly, and perhaps the industry has been slow to give clear line of sight of business opportunities, the Charter’s signatories are committed to providing access to decision makers through specific, fast access points, to help accelerate communication on issues. Share Fair is the ideal opportunity for suppliers to learn about getting involved.

New for 2016 is the launch of the ‘sandpit sessions’ which Oil & Gas UK is co- hosting with the recently established Oil and Gas Technology Centre. Vessel inspection and corrosion under insulation (CUI) are the focus of these sessions, which aim to provoke intense discussions and facilitate knowledge exchange to explore niche areas where the industry could develop competitive advantage and scope for exporting to international markets

By participating in Share Fair, supply chain companies will have a prominent platform to demonstrate how their expertise, goods and services could help major clients address the complex challenges the industry faces today.

For more information about participating in the Share Fair, Oil & Gas UK has developed a dedicated microsite which is available via its website here.
