Students Awarded Shell Scholarship
Three Fife College students have been recognised for their achievements and given a boost to their career prospects, after being awarded prestigious scholarships sponsored by Shell UK.
The students were presented with their awards at a special presentation held at the College’s Stenton Campus in Glenrothes recently.
The awards were presented through the Adam Smith Foundation which looks after the College’s scholarship programme.
Gaynor Jarrett, Trust Fundraiser for the Adam Smith Foundation, welcomed the students to the presentation and they were presented with their certificates and awarded a scholarship of £1,000 each by Bill Hutchison, Curriculum Manager for Petroleum Engineering on behalf of Shell UK.
All three students are studying HND Petroleum Engineering at the Stenton Campus in Glenrothes and have shown great academic ability alongside commitment to their studies with the aim of progressing in the oil and gas industry.
Dean Anderson (23) from Broxburn, Scott Campbell (24) from Cumnock and Steven Mowat (21) from Dunfermline, were each delighted to be shortlisted to receive the award from Shell. The three will use their scholarships to help pay for further study and training courses required for the oil and gas sector.
Gaynor said: “We are very grateful to Shell for their continued support which makes a big difference to our students. Dean, Scott and Steven are all extremely deserving - having this award on their CV along with the financial boost and recognition will widen their future career prospects.”
