Students on the road to success thanks to scholarship awards from Arnold Clark
Four students at Fife College have been awarded special scholarships by Arnold Clark.
Catriona Bell, William Gunn, Neil Law, and Aleksandra Nowicka received scholarships of £500 each in recognition of their commitment to progress their careers within the areas of business, engineering and automotive.
Awarded through Adam Smith Scholarships, part of Fife College, the scholarships can be used by the students to purchase resources or materials to support their studies.
Europe’s largest privately owned car retailer, Arnold Clark, has offered scholarships at Fife College for several years with some supported students going on to gain employment with the company after their studies.
This year’s scholarship recipients were presented with their awards by Lynne McBurney, Group Head of People at Arnold Clark, at a special presentation held in the vehicle workshop at the College’s Glenrothes Campus.
Vice Principal Dorothee Leslie was delighted to welcome Lynne and her colleague Carole Anne McCann, Group Recruitment Manager to the College. Both Lynne and Carole Anne enjoyed chatting to the students and finding out more about their future plans as well as meeting staff from the engineering and business faculties.
Advanced Certificate: Business Enterprise (with Admin, Accounting or Legal) student Aleksandra Nowicka, from Dunfermline, said:
"This scholarship is a great honour. I'm so happy as it will allow me to develop my education further. I will spend the money on a new computer to use on my next course."
HNC Mechanical Engineering student Neil Law, who was unfortunately unable to attend the presentation, plans to use his scholarship award to support his university studies.
Neil, from Lochgelly, said:
"I feel over the moon to be awarded this scholarship which will greatly help with my future progress through to the master's degree course. I will spend this money on resources to help me with my studies such as books and a portable electronic device to use while at university."
Lynne McBurney, Group Head of People at Arnold Clark, said:
"We are thrilled to be able to offer these scholarships to the students at Fife College - we hope they’ll go a long way in helping them to purchase the materials and resources they need to get the most out of their studies.
"Community is one of our core values at Arnold Clark and so we are always looking for innovative ways to support local organisations."
Lyn Gold, Scholarship and Alumni Engagement Lead at Fife College, said:
"Arnold Clark has provided great support to many students at Fife College over several years.
“We are grateful to them for offering these latest scholarship awards which we know will have an immediate impact on these students’ academic lives and their plans for the future.
"Catriona, William, Neil, and Aleksandra are very deserving of their awards. We wish them well in their studies and careers and look forward to continuing our relationship with Arnold Clark."
