Tayport Distillery at the V&A Dundee: A Collaboration Rooted in Place and Purpose

It’s not every day that a local business is asked to contribute to a landmark cultural event. When Tayport Distillery was invited to create the signature cocktail for the opening of the “Garden Futures” exhibition at the iconic V&A Dundee, it represented more than just a creative brief — it was a celebration of local flavour, craft, and connection.

This major exhibition explores how gardens shape communities, culture, and the environment, featuring visionary work from global artists, designers, and gardeners. For our team, the opportunity to reflect these themes in a reception serve was a natural fit. Our Wild Rose Gin — which draws on botanicals growing along the River Tay — became the foundation. Fragrant, floral, and distinctively rooted in the local landscape, it provided a sensory echo of the exhibition’s core message.

Working closely with Alexis Wilkins and the team at Heritage Portfolio, we designed a signature reception cocktail to align with their Middle Eastern-inspired canapés. It was an evening that paired storytelling with taste, and showcased what’s possible when local businesses are given a national platform.
