The Jimmy McRae Trophy to be Awarded to the Winner of the Knockhill Stages
A record entry of 75 cars is anticipated for the Scottish Championship opening round.
Sunday 1st of March, Knockhill Racing Circuit will be transformed, once again, into a single venue rally venue as it hosts the opening round of the Scottish Tarmac Rally Championships. The Border Access Knockhill Rally Stages is run by the Border Ecosse Car Club and will feature the largest entry yet as organisers have increased the number of crews from 70 to 75, to cope with the interest.
A feature of the event will be the awarding of the Jimmy McRae Trophy to the winning crew. Jimmy will be present to award to trophy for the first time, which follows hot on the heels of him coming 4th in class in the McRae Rally Challenge, at Knockhill, last September.
Stuart Gray, Knockhill Director of Events, said, "We are thrilled that Jimmy will be here for the rally and to present the trophy named after him for the first time. He is a legend of Scottish and British rallying, and it will be even more of an incentive for the leading crews to go for the win, knowing that they will be presented the winning trophy by Jimmy."
