Update from the Chamber President
Welcome to my first update as President of Fife Chamber of Commerce.
It’s been a busy month for the Chamber with the highlight being the Fife Business Awards in the aptly named Hall of Champions at the Old Course Hotel. It was great to be in a room with so many others after such a long time. My congratulations to everyone who was nominated for an award, the winners and all our sponsors.
I joined the chamber staff for their weekly meeting immediately after my election as your president and found the discussion to be fascinating. We are truly blessed to have such a great team in place to offer support to all our members and my continued thanks and appreciation to Alan, Paul, Marjory, Morag, Staci, Yvonne, Amanda and Dominika.
Whilst I missed the Fife Social at Dunnikier Park Golf Club I was encouraged to see many of you getting out and networking with other businesses and exploring the opportunities. I know in my own job a connection made at the first Fife Social of the year in St Andrews proved hugely beneficial last week when I needed assistance from a company that I had met at the Fife Social (and who then went on to join Fife Chamber for the first time)
Covid-19 does now seem firmly in the rear-view mirror and if you are reading this update having let your membership lapse at the start of the pandemic I would encourage you to get in touch with Paul and Yvonne our Membership Development Executives to explore the benefits of chamber membership.
Next week I will represent Fife Chamber at the Jack Vettriano Early Years Art Exhibition at the Kirkcaldy Galleries organised by the Fife Tourism Partnership and Visit Scotland. The exhibition runs until October and there are some hospitality packages available should any members wish to entertain clients, friends or guests. A Vettriano exhibition in Kirkcaldy will always have a special place in my heart as it’s where I took my wife Kirsten on our first date back in 2006!
We have my first board meeting later in the month and I am looking forward to welcoming some new members of the board – news on that front to follow! If you want to know more about the work of the board of directors, please do get in touch.
Finally I have my own chamber email address so I would encourage you if you have any thoughts, ideas, criticisms, suggestions or even if you just want to meet for a coffee and some of my home made tablet then please do drop me a note at [email protected]
Have a great week and do please keep supporting your local chamber of commerce.
