Edinburgh Airport publishes covid-19 data on website

Edinburgh Airport has created COVID-19 Dashboards and published them on its website in a bid to allow passengers to make more informed travel decisions.

Using independent data from the World Health Organization, the dashboards show on a country by country basis the number of cases per 100k of the population in the last seven days, and the daily number of new cases confirmed.

New virtual Coding Academy launched for P5-P7 pupils

Fife College, with support from InvestFife’s Business Enterprise Team, has launched a Virtual Coding Academy for Fife’s primary school pupils.

The Academy, which is split into two blocks, both of which are 18-weeks long, is aimed at pupils in P5-P7, offering them an introduction to the fundamentals of computer programming with a focus on HTML and Python.

The latest Covid restrictions are only a few weeks old and already the media is awash with stories of an impending ‘Circuit Breaker’.  This comes as recent reports from the British Chambers of Commerce, the Scottish Government’s Chief Economic Advisor and the Fraser of Allander Institute have all reached broadly the same conclusion: the economic recovery we have seen since the national lockdown began to be eased in the early summer is very fragile and the imposition of further restrictions to tackle the spread of Covid risks further economic damage.

Adopt an Apprentice scheme extended to graduates

Adopt an Apprentice (AAA) is a scheme that supports apprentices by giving an employer a grant of up to £2000 if they hire an apprentice who has been made redundant during their apprenticeship.   AAA has been extended because of Covid to include redundant Graduate Apprentices.   The £2000 grant can be used by the new employer for wage costs, skills development or mentoring.  AAA is run by Skills Development Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government.
