National Insurance holiday for employing armed forces veterans

The new measure, which is effective from 6th April, allows employers to claim National Insurance contributions relief for veterans they have hired during their first year of civilian employment after leaving the armed forces.  The relief is available to all employers of veterans regardless of when the veteran left the regular armed forces, providing that they have not been employed in a civilian capacity since leaving the service.

Fife Chamber sets challenge for the next Scottish Government

Scotland’s chambers of commerce have called on the next Scottish Government to pass a ‘Business Growth Act’ in its first 100 days.   This is the centrepiece of the ‘Rally for Growth’ report ahead of the Scottish Parliament elections.  Chamber members from across the country worked with their local chamber and with the team at the Scottish Chambers of Commerce to produce the report, which offers a blueprint for economic recovery in the wake of the damage caused by the coronavirus, the impact of leaving the EU and Scotland’s historical legacy of low growth and productivity.

Kingdom Housing Association Energy Adviser Recognised At National Fuel Poverty Awards

Fife based Kingdom Housing Association is celebrating after winning a top accolade at Energy Action Scotland’s Fuel Poverty Awards.

Energy Adviser Derek Smith received the “Exceptional People, Exceptional Times” award at the Scottish Fuel Poverty Conference for his work supporting Kingdom’s tenants in fuel poverty.

Astrak becomes first SME in Fife to benefit from workforce development fund

Fife College has welcomed Kirkcaldy-based company Astrak as they became the first small or medium enterprise (SME) in Fife to benefit from the Flexible Workforce Development Fund.

Astrak is the UK's leading supplier of heavy-duty undercarriage and wear part components for tracked machinery such as excavators and bulldozers, and applied to the Scottish Government fund after applications were opened up to all businesses.
