A Touch of French Flair is Coming to Knockhill on July 11th / 12th

6th July 2026

From outright lap record Long Circuit Karts to snail-paced 2CV's, it's a race weekend that has variety to suit all tastes!

At the mid-summer car racing meeting on the 11th and 12th of July, spectators will see championships that could not be more varied in a packed two days of racing action. From 250cc Long Circuit gearbox Karts that will lap at outright lap record pace, to possibly the most iconic of French cars, the Citroen 2CV, all of which will all be put through their paces, and at a pace that could not be more varied!

The 250cc Long Circuit Karts can lap the famous 1.3 mile race track in around 48 seconds, where as the Classic 2CVs are expected to circulate some 30 seconds slower! Add in an event that features the SEAT Supercup Ireland championship, Northern Saloon & Sports Cars from the northeast of England, a capacity grid of 34 Scottish Legends, Mini Cooper Cup, ModSports and Classic Citroen C1's, the event has an eclectic mix of championships. It is the 2CVs that are perhaps the most unusual as they are taking part in two sprint races on Saturday and a 90 minute 2-driver race on Sunday 12th. The format is the longest race that Knockhill will host this year and is the first to feature pitstops with driver changes.

Stuart Gray, Knockhill Director of Events said, " There is a long association with the 2CV at Knockhill stretching back to the 80s. I raced one here in 1990, won the race and set a new lap record, and then went on to race one in Ireland in a 24 hour race. It was great fun and such a different challenge to the single seaters and sports cars I was used to. The speed may only be 75mph heading towards Duffus Dip, but you don't brake, throw the car into the corner and hang on! It's all about momentum and avoiding slowing down as there is no power!"

Another Knockhill Director who has a fond memory of the French iconic car is non other that Circuit Managing Director Jillian Shedden, who's first car at the age of 17 was a bright red 2CV. She then moved on the a Renault before driving a variety of cars from Knockhill. Jillian said "I now drive an electric Porsche but I would love to have my wee 2CV back in the garage to take it out occasionally, it was so much fun to drive and you really felt every part of the road and countryside driving along. It may have only been going at 30 or 40mph, but it felt wonderful!"
