Fife Chamber CEO Update - June 2024

19th June 2024

We are now in the countdown phase to a UK General Election and, as a Chamber, we have worked together with our other Scottish and British Chambers in highlighting what we wish to see from a Business Perspective after the 4th of July. I will share this letter with you later in the week.

Fife Business Awards

We were delighted to host the Fife Business Awards at the Old Course Hotel on the 7th of June and you will no doubt have seen many posts and images/videos from the event on social media. It was a very enjoyable night with many worthy winners and Finalists enjoying the evening until the early morning. Thanks again to our sponsors and all of our guests. We look forward to arranging FBA 25 in the coming months and may I personally congratulate all the winners.

McTaggart Scott Tour – West Lothian and Midlothian/East Lothian Chambers

We had an excellent event courtesy of Midlothian/East Lothian Chambers on the 24th of May. There were 30 people in attendance, and we enjoyed meeting with other Chamber Members and having a tour of another great family business working in the Defence arena. The next Behind the Scenes is the Ikea event on the 27th of June. Please book on our website.

International Trade Pathway

We launched the International Trade Pathway last month and can I remind all our members that this is a series of free training sessions in collaboration with InvestFife and St Andrews Management Training Centre. Please visit the website for more information and the dates of the next series of training courses from August onwards.

The Importance of Keeping Track of Your Business Expenses

I was recently going through the process of signing off expenses manually both for mileage and out-of-pocket expenses and thought there must be a better way of doing this.

Our Member, Thomson Cooper, has recently written an informative article titled ‘How to Master Business Expenses’ and highlighted the importance of keeping track of expenses to ensure that you are claiming what is entitled to you. There are many digital ways of tracking expenses and their article, here, helps demystify this process.
