Fife Chamber’s Accreditation Success

22nd October 2019

Fife is one of eight chambers of commerce in Scotland and over 50 across the UK that are accredited to the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC). This gives our members access to valuable support and expertise, particularly in the area of international trade, and provides us with a direct route to influence and lobby the UK Government at the highest levels.

Affiliated chambers are thoroughly assessed every two years to ensure that they meet the highest standards of performance across all aspects of their operations, including business strategy and planning, membership engagement and communications, financial management, human resources and staff development and governance and oversight.

The Chamber Board of Directors is delighted that Fife has been re-accredited for a further two years, which is a tremendous vote of confidence in the ability of the team to provide members from across all sectors with high quality services and events.

Our accredited status allows us to review our performance against other chambers and the most recent benchmarking exercise also revealed very positive results. We recorded the third highest surplus in 2018 and we were also in the top three for membership growth. The stats also show that our membership profile is amongst the most balanced across the chamber network, with a very even distribution of members across the different size bands. This is a key part of our strategy to give members valuable peer-to-peer connections and learning and we are delighted that it is bearing fruit.
